Position: Lead Cook

Pay: $200 per day (on call)

Seasonal: On Call- Summer

Desired Qualification:

·      Ability to work in a camp setting

·      Problem-solving

·      Coordinate and work well with others.

·      Pass a current background check

Responsible to: Camp Manager

Camp Goals:

    To provide healthy, well-balanced meals for youth and adults

General Responsibilities:

·      To prepare and serve food according to health regulations

·      To clean and sanitize the kitchen, dishes, and cookware after each meal service

Specific Responsibilities:

·      To assist in planning the menu, including alternate choices for special needs (gluten/lactose-free/allergic reactions), with the help of the Camp Manager

·      To provide a detailed list of food needs to the camp manager or designee

·      To prepare and serve all meals

·      To properly store and serve all foods at the correct temperatures

Essential Function:

·      Ability to operate all equipment in the kitchen, including: dishwasher, walk-in refrigerator, convection oven, exhaust fan, flat top grill, gas ovens, meat slicer, and mixer.  To notify management if there are any problems with the equipment

·      Know correct cooking temperatures, along with hot and cold holding temperatures

·      Know how to properly cool food to the correct temperature safely

·      Know how to properly store food

·      Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to food service

·      Possess the physical ability to move freely without aide throughout the kitchen and dining hall

·      Must have a current Food Handler’s permit.

·      A current First Aid/CPR card is recommended but not required
